Ketchup Ninja 02

Here goes the second chapter of Ketchup Ninja! I hope I can keep up this pace. An Anon suggested that I make APNG animated out of the pages where the panels pop up after another and I like the idea, but I feel like I might as well make a flash animation out of it, the way it was meant to be. Unfortunately, I don't have the time for it. So if anyone's up to it, just contact me, I'll show you how to get the sound files and timings.

And here's the niconico video:

  1. Oh boy, that escalated quickly, didn't it?

Quite on time, too, what with Payday 2 releasing.

Anyway: I know you jusst translate what the autor said, but since when can "bad" also mean "cool"? I can only think of the expression "bad boys", but even then the "cool" comes from the other part of the sentence "bitches be diggin' bad boys".

    1. Are you serious? When I was younger, I used to that "that was bad as hell" all the time. I still even say "that's bad ass" time to time. Did you live a sheltered life?

    2. Mind you, "bad ass" doesn't mean "cool ass," but simply "cool," "awesome" or whatever you use. It was a common phrase in the 80's, not that I was there but because it's common knowledge. Why do you think a BLACK Micheal Jackson is drawn on the "English Phrase of the Week" page?? You must be young.

    3. Dammit, too early to be posting (sorry for so many lol)... keep forgetting to elaborate properly... but the common phrase was "that's bad."

    4. Dunno if "bad" can mean "cool" too, but as you said, I only translate what the author writes. The only changes I make are fixing unintentional typos and add missing commas.

  2. This series doesn't seem too bad... It's mildly interesting because the author obviously had to of been a foreign transfer student and the school is somewhat accurate.
I felt that using a gunman is a bit misleading, as school shootings aren't all that common (but still happens more than it should). Whatever, though.
I like how it's "Ketchup" Ninja because ketchup is basically America's favorite condiment. This could turn out to be an interesting series. Looking forward to more.

    1. Wait. Thats how schools are in America? I mean the whole kissing in the hallway and throwing garbage around in the cafeteria?
I thought he was just making fun of your culture.

    2. This is pretty much the same as how high school is portrayed in American media itself, though the real thing is less exuberant, it's not far off.

    3. With chapter 3 finished, I can finally confirm that the author seems to have been at an American high school himself/herself. So although exaggerated, he/she didn't pull all of it out of his/her ass.

  3. Keep Luther's dream alive.

  4. Great work on translating the manga; I'm looking forward to more.
